来自英国和韩国研究者的一项关于针灸治疗疼痛的综述显示：针灸对骨关节炎、下背痛和肘外侧痛有效。

    研究者搜索了15个数据库（包括Medline, Embase,Amed, Cumulative Index of Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINHAL), Health Technology Assessments,Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE),the Cochrane Library, six Korean medical databases [Korean Studies Information; DBPIA (available at www.dbpia.com); Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information; Korea Education and Research Information Service; KoreaMed; and Korean National Assembly Library] and two Chinese Databases [China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI)]，共纳入2000年～2010年间发表的针灸治疗风湿疾病的系统性评估和荟萃分析30项，其中风湿性疾病包括：纤维肌痛综合征（FM）、下背痛、肘外侧痛、肌肉关节疼痛、骨关节炎（OA）、类风湿关节炎（RA）、肩周炎、颈障碍、强制性脊柱炎（AS）和坐骨神经痛。结果显示：证据提示针灸对治疗OA、下背痛和肘外侧痛是有效的，但对FM和RA无效。

    提示：对于骨关节炎、背痛及肘外侧痛有效，可推荐采用针灸治疗。
